Rejected: Invalid HELO Usually Associated With SPAM |
| |
Problem:
Outside users are unable to send Lord & Taylor users
internet Email. Their Email is rejected and returned to them. The reason for the rejection is:
"invalid helo usually associated with SPAM". |
| |
Cause:
The outside user's mail server is not properly identifying themselves with our mail servers.
This type of behavior is common among senders of Unsolicited Commerical Email (a.k.a. SPAM). |
| |
Solution:
Contact your Email group and tell them that they need to change their SMTP HELO to
be either their mail server's external DNS name (example: mail.company.com) or their e-mail
address domain name (example: lordandtaylor.com, etc.). |
| |
Please Note:
For outside users who are using Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, please have them
browse to the link below and follow the instructions under "How to Change the Fully Qualified
Domain Name" - that will resolve their problem. Users of other versions of Exchange may find
the same information helpful in resolving their problems, but they should proceed
"AT THEIR OWN RISK" and there is NO GUARANTEE that it will work for them. |
